
The Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Team have secured a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) on 2 July at North and West Magistrates’ Court.
The order was secured against John Burgess, 39, of no fixed address for two years, the conditions are to not:
- Enter any shops or premises that are members of the Workington Schemelink or who display the Schemelink sign at any time.
- Enter any shops or premises that are members of the Carlisle Shop Safe or who display the Shop Safe sign at any time.
- Enter Next, Workington
- Enter Poundland, Workington
- Enter any TK Maxx
- Enter Savers, Workington
- Enter Whelan Chemist, Workington
The Criminal Behaviour Order follows Burgess pleading guilty to two offences of shoplifting from 6 and 10 June 2024.
A police spokesperson said: “This Criminal Behaviour Order will prevent Burgess from further criminality and help protect business owners and local residents.
“I would encourage anyone who witnesses the terms of such a court order being broken to contact the police immediately. The punishment for breaking the terms of a CBO can be up to five years in prison.”
Anyone who witnesses John Burgess breaching the terms of his CBO should contact the police.
