Police are investigating a road traffic collision involving a car and pedestrian that occurred on Lamplugh Road, Cockermouth.
The collision occurred at 9:09pm yesterday (March 14).
The pedestrian a woman in her 70s sadly died at the scene.
The driver of the car a man in his 30s is assisting police with their investigation.
The road was closed for a number of hours whilst a forensic collision investigation was carried out.
