Cumbria Police is appealing for witnesses and video footage as part of an investigation into a series of burglaries and thefts in rural areas.
On Friday evening (7 Aug), into the early hours of Saturday (8 Aug), police received a number of reports of groups breaking into properties, outbuilding and vehicles in the Tebay and Sedbergh areas.
Following a short pursuit, officers stopped a vehicle in which had crossed into North Yorkshire, at Hawes and arrested a man in his 40s.
David Hogg, 45, of no fixed address but of the Bishop Auckland area, has been charged with the following offences:
· Attempted residential burglary
· Two counts of commercial burglary
· Two counts of theft from a motor vehicle
· Vehicle interference
· Driving whilst disqualified
· Failing to provide a specimen for analysis
He has been remanded in police custody, to attend Barrow Magistrates’ Court on Monday (10 Aug).
Officers are continuing their efforts to identify any outstanding suspects – as well as potential outstanding victims who may not yet be aware they have been targeted.
People in the area are asked to check outbuilding and garages for any signs of disturbance or break-in.
Officers are also urging people living in the area to check CCTV, doorbell footage and dashcams in case they have captured any video which may assist officers in their investigation.
