Police were called at 8.55am today ( September 17 ) following a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a pedestrian outside the Calder Gate entrance to Sellafield.
The pedestrian, a man, has been taken to the West Cumberland Hospital with serious injuries.
Three people have been arrested in connection with the incident.
Officers will be liaising with the organisers of the industrial action at this location to offer reassurance. There is no wider threat to the public.
