A man from Barrow was sentenced yesterday for a drug offence following targeted operation as part of ‘Clear Hold Build’ in Barrow last year.

Bailey Dutton, aged 19, of Manchester Street, Barrow was sentenced at Preston Crown Court on 9 June for possession with intent to supply Class A Drugs (cocaine).

He received a three-year sentence in a Young Offenders Institute.

The sentencing follows Dutton’s arrest during a targeted operation in the Hindpool as part of the’ Clear Hold Build’ initiative on 21 August 2024.

Dutton was witnessed by officers dealing drugs, and was stopped by officers travelling in a vehicle, before making off from the scene and discarding a bag containing a quantity of cocaine and cash.

Dutton was stopped by officers a short time later and arrested.

The investigation and seizure forms part of Operation Alliance - Cumbria Constabulary’s ongoing response to protect the county against serious and organised crime.

A spokesperson from Cumbria’s Community and Serious Organised Crime Unit (CSOC) who investigated the offences, said: “We proactively work to identify and challenge anyone we suspect to be supplying drugs in our communities and Dutton is exactly the type of offender that the ‘Clear Hold Build’ initiative aims to target.

“Cumbria Police will continue to do everything in our power to tackle harmful activity such as this and to take harmful drugs off our streets.

“If you have any information about drug related activity in your area, please report this to police”.

'Clear Hold Build'  is a three-phase initiative, which is  known locally as ‘Happy Hopeful Hindpool’. The strategy will see criminals and their associates targeted and cleared from the Hindpool area through a persistent police presence and intelligence led operations, all supported by partners and residents.
