Two people who were arrested as part of an investigation into an incident which occurred at an address in Carlisle, in the early hours of March 29, have been charged.
Alex Steventon, 46, of Denton Street, Carlisle was charged with attempted murder.
Connor Challinor, 29, of Sybil Street, Carlisle was charged with attempted murder.
They appeared at Carlisle’s magistrates court today (March 31) and were both remanded in custody.
Two women, one in her forties and one in her thirties, arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have both been released on police bail.
A man, in his twenties, arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent, was bailed pending further enquiries.
Officers were made aware at 3.24am on Sunday March 29 that a man, in his thirties, had sustained a number of suspected stab wounds at an address in Edward Street.
He was taken to hospital and subsequently discharged following treatment.
Officers are appealing for anyone to contact them who saw anything suspicious in the area of Edward Street, Sybil Street and Lindisfarne Street on the night on Saturday March 28 or the early hours of Sunday March 29.
They are also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a grey Seat Arona, registration PY23 OES, in and around these areas or the London Road area at these times.
