A man from Carlisle has been charged today (8 April) following an attempted robbery which occurred in the early hours of 7 April.

Michael Kenney, 35, of Bowscale Close, Carlisle was charged with one count of attempted robbery and one count of possession of a bladed article.

Police were made aware of an incident occurring at 12:24am on 7 April on Bowscale Close.

The incident occurred inside a taxi. No one was hurt in the incident.

He has appeared at North Cumbria Magistrates Court today (8 April) and was remanded in custody to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on 8 May.
