A man has today, 9 October 2026, been imprisoned after being found guilty of a series of offences.

Jake Mattinson-Smith, 26, from Cleator Moor, was today, sentenced to seven and a half years in prison.

He admitted sexual activity and sexual assault against a teenage girl, sexual assault against a child under 13 and false imprisonment, assault and criminal damage on an adult.

He also admitted making indecent images of children and assaulting an emergency worker.

Mattinson-Smith was given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and restraining orders against the victims.

Detective Linzi Wilkinson said:

“I would like to commend all the victims in this case, for their resilience during the entire investigation.

“Mattinson-Smith subjected his victims to multiple incidents of abuse.

“Today he faces the consequences of his actions.

“I would urge anyone who has been subject to offences of this nature to come forward.

“Cumbria Police are committed to bringing perpetrators to justice and we will do everything in our power to hold them accountable for their crimes.
