A closure order has been secured by the Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Team at a property in Maryport due to criminal activity.

The closure relates to an address on Rydal Avenue, Maryport that had caused a significant detriment to the local community for several months following anti-social behaviour, drug activity and violence at the property causing a nuisance to the public.

The premises is closed to all for three months.

Any persons entering will be subject to arrest and possible conviction with a sentence of up to 6 months imprisonment under sec 80 of the Anti-social behaviour crime & policing act 2014

Maryport Community Beat Officer PC Sam Steele, from the Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Team said "The address has been an open sore and focal point of criminal behaviour which has had a negative impact on the community.

“This order will stop anyone entering the property, those who enter risk arrest.

"This is a warning to those that engage in this type of behaviour that we will take action to disrupt and provides reassurance to our communities that those continuous engaged in criminal activity will be targeted.

"We are pleased that the case we brought with our legal department to the courts have seen fit to order the closure. We would also like to thank Home Group housing who supported the police through the proceedings."
