Cordon in place after suspected ordnance found in Walney

A cordon has been put in place in the area of Red Ley Lane in Walney, Barrow, due to a piece of potential ordnance being found in a garden.

An EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) team are on scene to carry out an assessment on the object.

The cordon will remain in place while the response to this is carried out.

As a precautionary measure a number of homes in the nearby area have been temporarily evacuated.

There is no known risk to the wider public.
