Cumbria Police are deploying in greater numbers in Carlisle on Saturday 1 November for the annual firework show. The event will see thousands of attendee’s travel to the city to enjoy the evening and activities.
Ahead of the event, police have authorised a dispersal order, which is in place from 12pm to 11:59pm on 1 November in Carlisle City Centre.
The dispersal order gives officers extra powers to ask individuals engaging in anti-social behaviour to leave the area and not return, if they return they risk being arrested.
Officers will be patrolling the area on Saturday to ensure that everyone enjoys the show without disruption.
Inspector Andy Leather from Carlisle Neighbourhood Policing team said “Unfortunately in previous years we have had incidents of anti-social behaviour in the city centre.
“This behaviour will not be tolerated.
“We have dedicated resources covering the fireworks show at Bitts Park and in the city centre to ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable night.
“Anyone who is issued a dispersal orders will get a visit from officers at home.”
