Eight people were arrested yesterday (Saturday 3 May) for drink or drug driving offences in Cumbria as officers urge people to consider the potential consequences of their actions.

There is an increased roads policing presence across the county’s road network throughout the bank holiday weekend to keep people safe.

Officers are urging people not to risk lives by driving whilst under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is one of the ‘Fatal Four’ – which are the four main behaviours which cause death or serious injury on the road network alongside speeding, using a mobile phone at the wheel and not wearing a seatbelt.

Officers will continue to target those who are committing such offences.
