Officers from Eden’s Neighbourhood Policing Team (Eden NPT) are continuing to tackle drug supply issues in the Penrith and Alston area, conducting a series of warrants this month which have resulted in arrests and seizures.
The team, alongside colleagues from Operational Support, Dog Section and Intelligence, have carried out three drugs warrants in May so far – two in the Penrith area and one in Alston.
As a result of the warrants and subsequent searches, the team made a number of arrests.
One man in his 20s was arrested yesterday (13 May) after a warrant was carried out on Stricklandgate, Penrith. He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs.
On 1 May, following a warrant carried out on Market Place, Alston, two people, a man in his 40s and woman in her 30s, were arrested on suspicion of drug supply offences.
All those arrested have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.
During all three warrants quantities of drugs and cash were seized.
Sergeant Bennet, Eden NPT said: “These warrants and searches have been conducted as part of our ongoing efforts to target and disrupt drug supply within our communities in Eden.
“Information we receive from the community is vital to help us build intelligence on drug use and take action against any illegal activity in our neighbourhoods.
“If anyone has any information to share, please speak to your local PCSO or local Community Beat Officer for your area.
“We will not hesitate to take action where we suspect criminality is occurring in our communities and the results of these warrants should send a clear message to those involved in drug dealing – if you are dealing drugs, expect officers at your door”.
If you or anyone you know suspects an address in your neighbourhood is being used for drug dealing, drug related offences or associated in another crime, please report via 101 or online at www.cumbria.police/report-it
