Police were called to an address at The Gill in Ulverston at around 2:55pm today (31 May) with a report of an assault.
Upon arrival, officers were made aware of two persons who had secured themselves inside the property with a weapon.
Firearms officers were deployed to the incident due to the nature of the report.
A cordon was put in place and a number of residents in the immediate area were evacuated to ensure officers could operate safely.
Officers gained entry to the property at around 7:35pm and a man and woman have been arrested and are currently in police custody. No one was injured during the incident.
