A man has been charged after a large amount of heroin with a potential value of £500,000 was found in his vehicle.

On Thursday 19 Feb, officers from the Roads Policing Team stopped a man driving in Cumbria.

Upon searching his vehicle, they located 5kg of heroin along with a knife and two other offensive weapons.

Detectives from Westmorland and Furness’s Community and Serious Organised Crime (CSOC) have today charged Jamie Blyth, 39 , of Falkland Crescent, Aberdeen with:

  • Possession with intent to supply a Class A drug - heroin
  • Possession of a bladed article
  • Two counts of possession of an offensive weapon

He is to appear before South Cumbria Magistrates Court on 21 February.

The seizure and investigation forms part of forms part of Operation Alliance - Cumbria Constabulary’s ongoing response to protect the county against serious and organised crime.
