A man from Carlisle has been given a full criminal behaviour order on Friday 5 September after been given an interim order at a previous hearing.

Rodger Oates, 41, of Dixon Court, Carlisle was given a two-year order that prohibits him with the following conditions:

  • Not to be in possession of any unsealed vessel containing alcohol in any public place, except Inside a licensed premises.
  • Not to enter the City Centre of Carlisle, unless whilst in transit on Public Transport or attending Carlisle train station in possession of a valid train ticket or immediately purchasing a valid train ticket and in any case to board the train in one hour And leave immediately once disembarking a train arriving at Carlisle train station.

    The area is defined as: Carlisle Citadel, Court Square Brow, Carlisle Train Station, Court Square, The Crescent, English Street, Botchergate and Collier Lane or the area bound by them.

  • Not to enter Carlisle train Station including its car park unless in possession of a Valid ticket or immediately purchase a valid ticket and board the train in one hour. And leave immediately once disembarking a train arriving at Carlisle train station.

Oates was given an interim order on 22 May after being sentenced for possession with intent to supply drug Class A. He received a suspended Imprisonment for two years with a Drug Rehabilitation Requirement.

The punishment for breaking the terms of a Criminal Behaviour Order can be up to five years in prison.

This work forms part of Operation Enhance.

Operation Enhance is funded after Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner secured an additional £1m of extra funding from the Government’s Hotspot Response Fund to target anti-social behaviour (ASB) and serious violence in hotspot areas across the county.

There are increased patrols in Carlisle City Centre area as part of Operation Enhance.
