The Carlisle Neighbourhood Police Team have today (June 9) secured a two year Criminal Behaviour Order against John Moffat, 38 of South Henry Street, Carlisle.

The order follows him being sentenced to eight weeks for six shoplifting offences.

The order prevents Moffat from entering any property or premises that are members of the Carlisle Shopwatch scheme or display the Stopwatch logo at any time.

A Criminal Behaviour Order is a useful tool to place restrictions on Moffat to prevent further criminality and help protect business owners.

We would encourage anyone who witnesses the terms of such a court order being broken to contact the police immediately.

The punishment for breaking the terms of a CBO can be up to five years in prison.

This work forms part of Operation Enhance.

Operation Enhance is funded after Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner secured an additional £1m of extra funding from the Government’s Hotspot Response Fund to target anti-social behaviour (ASB) and serious violence in hotspot areas across the county.

There are increased patrols in Carlisle City Centre area as part of Operation Enhance.
