A man has had his sentence increased at court today (July 11) after a judge ruled that the sentence he received in April was unduly lenient.

The sentence was referred by the Solicitor General to the Court of Appeal for review as being unduly lenient.

Jacob Corrie, 31, was sentenced to six years four months in April but at today’s hearing, the Court of Appeal increased his total sentence to ten years and four months.

Speaking on the appeal Detective Constable Rebecca Lynch from Cumberland CID said “We welcome the revised sentence for Corrie, who committed numerous offences against his underage victims.

“Today’s outcome ensures he spends further time in prison out of our community for these serious offences.

“We continue to urge anyone who has been victim of a sexual offence to contact police so that our officers can investigate. You will be supported throughout our investigation which is tailored to an individual’s circumstances.”
