A man from Barrow has been jailed for breaching a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Louis Killip, aged 52, of Vernon Street, Barrow was sentenced at Preston Crown Court yesterday (10 April) to two years and four months in prison for breaching an existing SHPO, failing to comply with notification requirements for the Sex Offenders Register and making indecent images of children.
The court heard that police were contacted by a member of an online child sexual activist group in December 2024, who stated they had information relating to Killip using an online alias and attempting to contact one of the groups decoy accounts.
This information alongside police enquiries led to Killip being arrested on 23 January 2025 for breaching various conditions of his SHPO.
Officer seized two undisclosed mobile phones from Killip’s address.
A spokesperson for Cumbria Police said: “Killip was fully aware of the requirements of him being a named person on the Sex Offenders Register and the terms of the prevention order imposed against him.
“He is clearly a risk to young people and went to great lengths to conceal his identity online and acquire two mobile phones.
“We work hard to monitor and manage people who are subject to such orders to assess and manage the risk that they pose to the public and to ensure that they are held to account for any breaches of court orders that are issued to assist in managing their risk, and to ensure that the public is safe from harm.
"If anyone is found to breach the terms of these preventative orders we will find them, and we take a zero-tolerance approach. I hope this sentencing shows how seriously we take the management of sex offenders.”
