
A man from Maryport has today (Dec 18) been sentenced to three years for drug offences.
John Ward, 60, of Maryport appear at Carlisle Crown Court for possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A – Cocaine and possession of criminal property.
The court heard that on 27 May officers attended Ward’s address for an unrelated offence.
A search of his home was carried out, and officer located a set of digital scales and white powder residue. He was arrested and a further search conducted.
Officers located further weighing scales, £2,325 in cash and large quantity of gold jewellery.
A vehicle linked to ward was also searched were officer seized bags of white powder.
Examinations of the powders found Cocaine along with a cutting agent. In total 56 grams of 85% purity Cocaine with a street value of £6,400 was located.
Speaking on the case DC Richard Melton from the Community Serious Organised Crime Unit said “Ward denied being involved in the supply of cocaine and blamed other for the items located at his home address.
“We continue to actively target county line drug dealing to protect our communities and vulnerable people from those that seek to target them.
“Report any suspicious or drug dealing activity in your area, that one piece of intelligence could be the key to taking drug dealers off the streets of our county.”
