A man has been sentenced to three years in prison after a car he was travelling in was stopped by officers in March.
Martin Gunn, 34, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to three years in prison at Carlisle Crown Court on Monday (8 June) for:
- Possession with intent to supply Class A drugs
- Being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs
- Possession of an offensive weapon
- Dangerous driving
The court heard how at 11:45am on 13 March 2026, officers stopped a vehicle that Gunn was driving in Ambleside. When asked for his name, he provided false details initially before making off from officers.
After a short foot pursuit, he was detained and arrested.
A search of his vehicle was then conducted, and officers located a large quantity of, what was later found to be cocaine, inside the vehicle as well as a knife in the driver’s side door pocket.
