A man from Carlisle was jailed yesterday (2 Dec) for making indecent images of children.
David Wilson, aged 52, of Admiral Way, Carlisle was sentenced to 20 months prison for multiple counts of making indecent images of children between August 2024 and July 2025.
He was also made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for a period of 10 years.
Wilson, a registered sex offender, was arrested in July 2025 after he was visited at his home address by his Offender Manager where a search of his devices located the files.
Over 60 files showing a sexual interest in children were found.
It was determined the Wilson had been accessing the dark web using Virtual Private Networks to disguise his identity.
Detective Constable Anna Ritson, from Cumbria’s Management of Sexual or Violent Offenders (MOSOVO) department said: “Wilson is a dangerous offender, and it is evident that he went to significant efforts to hide his offending.
“MOSOVO officers play a vital role in safeguarding communities by rigorously managing registered sex offenders, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, and holding individuals accountable for their actions.
“We take a zero-tolerance approach against anyone found to breaching the terms of their requirements or committing any further offences.”
