
A man has been jailed for over two years for offences including fraud and grievous bodily harm.
Ben Hurst, 33, of Larch Grove, Ulverston was sentenced to two years two months for:
- Inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent
- Three counts of fraud by false representation
- Intentional strangulation
- Assault by beating
He was sentenced at Preston Crown Court yesterday (Jan 21).
The offences are against one victim a woman.
Speaking on the case T/Detective Constable Katherine Taylor from Westmoreland and Furness CID said “Hurst subjected his victim to a violent assault grabbing her by the throat and throwing her to the floor before locking her in the house. He further assaulted her the next day.
“The victim suffered multiple injuries including a fracture in her neck.
“Whilst in hospital Hurst fraudulently used the victim’s bank cards without her permission.
“These offences will not be tolerated by Cumbria Constabulary, and we will do everything within our power to hold them accountable for their actions and bring them to justice.
“It can be hard for victims to talk about abuse, but we want to reassure anyone victim to such offences you will be taken seriously and dealt with professionally and sensitively.
“The Constabulary also works closely with trusted partner agencies to provide the appropriate support which is tailored to an individual’s circumstances.”
