
A man has today (16 March) been jailed for the supply of drugs in north Cumbria.
Bradley Cowan, 22, of Moor Road, Longtown was sentenced to five years for the following offences:
- Concerned in the supply of a class A drug - other
- Two counts of possess with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A - Cocaine
- Acquire / use / possess criminal property
- Possess with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class B – Cannabis
The offences relate to incidents in May 2024, September 2024 and January 2026.
The court heard on 10 May 2024, Cowan came to the attention of officers from Carlisle Neighbourhood Policing Team whilst he was riding a Sur-ron bike in Longtown.
Officers attending his home address in Longtown where he made off from officers on the bike but was detained at the rear gate.
Cowan was found in possession of a white powder identified as cocaine and a mobile phone.
Officers conducted a search at the address and found further white powder, drug paraphernalia and cash.
The phone was examined and provided evidence of the sale of drugs.
In September 2024, Cowan was searched under the misuse of drugs act after a report of him allegedly using drugs in a premises toilet. In his possession was over £1000 in cash. He was arrested and another search of his home was carried out were further cash and white powder was located.
In interview he denied involvement of the supply of drugs and claimed the money was from the sale of a Sur-on bike, he declined to provide details of the sale. A review of his mobile device located messages consistent with the supply of drugs and a debtors list.
In January 2026, officers attended the home address of Cowan following suspected drug dealing from the address. He was arrested and a search carried out.
Officers located a bag of cannabis, nitrous oxide cannisters and wraps of Cocaine.
Speaking on the case Community Beat Officer for Longtown PC Nick Leigh said “Cowan was actively involved in the supply of drugs within our community.
“We have taken proactive action to disrupt his offending in which he continued.
“Following information from our community we were able to continue to target Cowans criminal activity.
“If you suspect criminality is taking place in your neighbourhood then we want to hear from you so we can take action.”
