
A man has been jailed for two years three months for the supply of Class A drugs in Maryport.
Grant Wilson, 34, of Alne Road, Maryport appeared at Carlisle Crown Court on 13 March.
The court heard in January 2024 Wilson was stopped in his vehicle by Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Team on Buttermere Road, Maryport.
He was searched under section 23 of the misuse of drugs act were officers located a bag of solid white substance, snap bags, snap bags containing white powder and two phones. One of the phones was a burner phone.
Testing of the substances identified the powder as Cocaine. Messages located on the burner phone were in relation the supply of drugs.
Community Beat Officer for Maryport, PC Sam Steele said “Wilson was proactively targeted following information reported to the police that he was actively supplying Cocaine in Maryport.
“The amount of Cocaine located on him and messages on his phone confirmed the information received by police.
“We urge anyone with information on drug activities within our community to report information to us.
“This allows us to put those individuals exploiting and putting our communities at harm before the courts.”
