Volunteers Week
Volunteers Week
Cumbria Police is celebrating the amazing contribution made by our Police Support Volunteers (PSVs), Special Constables (volunteer police officers) and cadets and cadet leaders, who all give up their time to help the force keep Cumbria safe.

A team of 48 Special Constables have volunteered over 10,500 hours over the past year* to assist both response and rural officers, and police many of the county’s major operations. Special Constables also made 48 arrests during their volunteered working hours.

We work closely with many young people across the county and have capacity for 100 cadets across our five units. Our cadets are supported by 42 volunteer cadet leaders.

The force is also supported by 20 PSVs in roles such as Child Centred Policing and MOSOVO, (Management of Sexual Offenders and Violent Offenders) and 39 rural volunteers.

This week, we will be highlighting the incredible work our volunteers do, day in day out, on our social media channels.

Inspector Siraaz Patel, Citizens in Policing Department, said: “All of our volunteers play a vital role within Cumbria Constabulary and are essential to delivering and improving our service to our communities.

“National volunteers week provides us with a great opportunity to showcase their work, which often goes unseen, and to thank them for their contribution.

“Time and time again I am impressed and inspired by the dedication of our volunteers who give up their own time to support their communities.

“I’d like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all of our volunteers in every department for the work you do – it really does make a difference.”

If you think you could use your skills and experience to support us in our work and make a difference in your community, we have many volunteer opportunities available via our website.

Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, David Allen, said: “I want to thank all of our volunteers within Cumbria Constabulary – the work they do is invaluable, and they are an integral part of our Service.

“As local residents, they know their patch better than anyone and they are trusted within their communities. Volunteers really do help keep our towns and villages safe.

“I would encourage anyone interested in volunteering to check Cumbria Police website.”
