A new Community Beat Office (CBO) has joined the South Lakes Neighbourhood Policing Team.
PC Sandra Hamilton will be covering the Ambleside and Windermere area, working alongside PCSOs Debbie Ross and Sarah Blacow.
PC Hamilton has spent the last four years of her career here at Cumbria Police as a response officer in Barrow and Kendal, responding to immediate calls for service from the public.
She will offer a consistent, visible presence in the Lakes area, working with local residents, business owners and partners to tackle and prevent issues such as anti-social behaviour.
Speaking after starting her role, PC Hamilton said: “I’m excited to introduce myself as your new Community Beat Officer for the South Lakes area. I’ve already had a great start last Monday (4 August), getting to know the area and some of you.
“For the past four years, I’ve been working on response team in Barrow and Kendal.
“This experience has given me a deep understanding of the policing challenges in our region, and I’m looking forward to applying that knowledge to this new role.
“My main priorities will be to:
- Takle anti-social behaviour – I want to ensure our community remains a safe and pleasant place for everyone to live, work, and visit.
- Be visible and accessible – You’ll see me out and about regularly. Please feel free to stop me for a chat – I want to hear about the issues that matter most to you.
- Build strong relationships with the community members and local organisations – by working together, we can create a stronger, safer South Lakes.
- Proactively identify and address local issues before they escalate – I’ll be working to get ahead of problems and find long-term solutions for our community.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know you all and working with you to make a positive impact.”
This forms part of the Constabulary’s pledge towards Neighbourhood Policing.
The pledge outlines our commitment to providing a quality policing service for the people of Cumbria through increasing dedicated Neighbourhood resources developing our Neighbourhood workforce.
