A new dedicated Community Beat Officer is now in place for Kirkby Stephen.
PC Benson Adams started his role in at the beginning of September and will offer a consistent presence in the area.
PC Adams has spent the last eight years of his career as a response officer, responding to immediate calls for service from the public.
Since starting in his role only a matter of weeks ago, PC Adams has already made several arrests in relation to wanted persons, a robbery offence, a drug driving offence and rural crime.
Speaking a few weeks into his role, PC Adams said: “My priorities for Kirkby Stephen over the coming weeks and months are to focus on HGV use on the A685, drug supply in the town and rural crime.
“We know these are the issues that matter the most to the communities as a result of the feedback from recent PACT surveys in the area.
“I will also aim to tackle criminals who use the A66 and A685 to traffic stolen property from other areas and I will be visiting licensed premises in the area discussing spiking and violence against women and girls (VAWG).
“I welcome any other priorities the community would like me to look into so please keep an eye out for our next PACT survey to tell us your concerns and we will endeavour to resolve the issues raised.
“Please stop and say hello and feel free to come and speak to me about any questions or concerns you have if you see me in town.”
