Carlisle Neighbourhood Policing team have secured a criminal behaviour order to protect local businesses in the area.
The order was secured yesterday (Oct 2) against Daniel McGill, aged 33, of Melbourne Road, Carlisle for two years, the conditions are McGill must not:
- Not to enter any premises part of the Carlisle Shopwatch and Retailers against crime scheme
- Not to enter any shops on St. Nicholas Gate Retail Park, London Road, Carlisle
- Not to enter Sainsburys, Brewery Lane, Penrith
The Criminal Behaviour Order follows McGill being sentenced to 22 weeks for shoplifting on 28 March, 1 April, 5 April, 23 May and 30 September and racially aggravated public order offence committed on 11 March.
Community Beat Officer PC Alice Hannah said: “This Criminal Behaviour Order will prevent McGill from further criminality and help protect business owners and local residents.
“I would encourage anyone who witnesses the terms of such a court order being broken to contact the police immediately.
"The punishment for breaking the terms of a CBO can be up to five years in prison.”
Anyone who witnesses Daniel McGill breaching the terms of his CBO should contact the police.
This work forms part of Operation Enhance.
Operation Enhance is funded after Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner secured an additional £1m of extra funding from the Government’s Hotspot Response Fund to target anti-social behaviour (ASB) and serious violence in hotspot areas across the county.
