Eden Neighbourhood Policing Team are continuing to target anti-social behaviour in hotspot areas across Penrith as part of Operation Enhance.

The NPT have recently been focussing on tackling youth related ASB in Castle Park.

Feedback from our regular Police and Communities Together (PACT) survey, told us that residents felt there were issues in the area around youth ASB and drug use in the early evening.

As a result, PCSOs have been conducting high visibility patrols in the area as well as ASB hotspot localities to prevent this behaviour and deter crime.

Officers have also been working with local businesses focussing on education and enforcement.

This work forms part of Operation Enhance - Cumbria Police’s crackdown on anti-social behaviour and serious violence by the means of extra police patrols.

Inspector Mo Bibby said: “We know our hotspot patrols are making a difference and we will continue to carry out patrols in areas within our communities where we know crime or anti-social behaviour is taking place.

“Eden NPT will continue to proactively target those who cause disorder and nuisance in our communities.”

Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, David Allen, said: “A visible police presence provides reassurance to residents and deters those looking to commit anti-social behaviour and crime in our communities. A reinforced visible policing presence is what people asked for and this is what the Constabulary are providing with Operation Enhance.

“I’m pleased that the Eden NPT provide the public with the opportunity to voice their concerns around local crime and that Police are using this information to provide targeted, intelligence-lead patrols as part of Operation Enhance.

“Residents know their communities better than anyone so it’s really important that we listen to them when they highlight an ongoing concern in order to tackle it before it grows into a more serious issue. I would ask that if residents report any instances of anti-social behaviour as this will allow the police to properly target the areas where it is occurring and deal with it appropriately.

“As Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner, I am your voice in Policing and Fire. If you have raised any concerns with the Police that you feel haven’t been addressed, please contact my Office on 01768 217734 or at commissioner@cumbria-pcc.gov.uk.”

As part of the operation, the public is encouraged to report antisocial behaviour by visiting the constabulary’s website Report antisocial behaviour | Cumbria Police  or our non-emergency number 101.

In an emergency always call 999. Information and intelligence from the public is vital so we can work together to tackle issues in their communities.
