Op Spotlight continues – with an arrest yesterday which resulted in a drink-driving charge…
Op Spotlight is a national campaign targeting the Fatal Four - speeding, using a mobile phone at the wheel, not wearing a seatbelt and driving under the influence of drink and/or drugs.
Yesterday (7 April), officers stopped a car at Kemplay roundabout in Penrith at around 12.30pm.
The driver failed a roadside breath test and was arrested.
She was subsequently charged with drink-driving and is due in court later this month.
Earlier that same day, shortly before 9am, officers stopped a van on the M6 at junction 44, north of Carlisle.
The driver, a man from the Birmingham area, failed a roadside drugs wipe test for cocaine and was arrested.
He was subsequently released under investigation to allow time for blood test results.
Op Spotlight continues…
