Police and partners are preparing for the return of Kendal Calling Festival, which takes place this summer at Lowther Deer Park.
The four-day event, running from 30 July to 2 August 2026, is the largest music festival in the county, with around 40,000 people expected to attend. Headline acts this year include Biffy Clyro, Two Door Cinema Club, Wolf Alice and The Kooks.
In the lead-up to the festival, Cumbria Police have been working closely with event organisers, local authorities and partner agencies to help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone attending.
Officers will be present throughout the event, supporting security staff and responding to any incidents of crime and disorder.
Road users are advised to expect increased traffic in the Eden area during the festival period. Those travelling are encouraged to plan, allow extra time for their journeys and be patient.
Chief Superintendent Matt Kennerley, Gold Commander for Cumbria Police, said:
“Kendal Calling is a fantastic event, and we want everyone attending to have a safe and enjoyable weekend.
“We have been working closely with our partners and event organisers to support a safe environment across the site.
“There are a range of security measures in place, including entry searches and the use of drug detection dogs.”
Ch Supt Kennerley added:
“We would encourage attendees not to bring valuables onto site and to remain vigilant to keep their belongings safe.
“If something doesn’t feel right, report it to police or security staff so that action can be taken.
“Surrender bins will be in place at entry points, giving people the opportunity to dispose of prohibited items.
“Anyone found in possession of drugs or weapons can expect to be dealt with appropriately.
“We look forward to welcoming visitors into the county - please look out for one another and enjoy the festival safely.”
