Police and partner agencies from Eden Local Focus Hub are holding a multi-agency activity event in Kirkby Stephen this Saturday (2 May) to help address concerns around anti-social behaviour (ASB) within the community.

This event will also launch a week long ‘Pop-Up Pump Track’ at the same location, available for free until Saturday 9 May.

The activity event will be held at Westgarth Park, Kirkby Stephen from 12pm-3pm. It will be supported by Eden Neighbourhood Policing Team alongside colleagues from Westmorland and Furness Council, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service and Kirkby Stephen Youth Centre.

These two events have been organised by Eden Local Focus Hub in response to ongoing concerns around ASB involving children in the area.

Rich Scoffham, Eden Local Focus Hub Manager said: “This event is a chance for residents to get involved and get to know their local services, and have some fun together.

“Eden Local Focus Hub are aware of some concerns from the local community around anti-social behaviour, and, amongst a range of other solutions, it’s hoped this event will help improve those relationships and bring the local community together.

“This approach has been shown to be effective in other local areas, with partnership working and a strong presence in our communities being vital in addressing ASB concerns, building trust and offering support to families in a proactive and approachable way.”

Danielle Ousby, Eden Local Focus Hub Coordinator said; “The event is free to attend, and we’d encourage all to come along to meet your your local officers.

“Alongside community events such as this, Eden Neighbourhood Policing Team will continue to carry out regular patrols in the area, especially around area identified as ASB hotspots.”

The activity event has been funded by Westmorland and Furness Community Safety Partnership, with the pump track being funded by Kirkby Stephen and Tebay Place Action Group, for the benefit of the local community.
