Barrow Neighbourhood Policing Team are appealing for information from members of the public following an increased level of ASB in Barrow involving e-bikes.
Over recent days there have been several reports of Sur-ron and pedal e-bikes being ridden in the town in an anti-social manner by young people. The riders wear face coverings in an effort to conceal their identity.
Following these reports, Barrow’s NPT have launched Operation Blackwater – a targeted initiative aimed at addressing and reducing ASB involving e-bikes.
Sergeant Jack Hart, of Barrow NPT said: “The behaviour of these riders is not only dangerous but has potential to cause a serious accident.
“To help us stop this, I’d urge anyone who sees these bikes being ridden in an anti-social and dangerous manner around Barrow to contact police and provide as much detail as possible.
“If you have dash cam footage, please share this with us so that we can find those responsible. The same goes for anyone with CCTV or doorbell footage.
“I would also urge anyone who has any information on those riding these bikes in such a way to contact us.
“The more information we have, the more we can do to address this dangerous behaviour.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police in Barrow via www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it or by calling 101.
In an emergency or if a crime is in progress always dial 999.
