Following heavy rainfall, a number of roads across the county are affected this morning (15 December).
Motorists are asked to be aware of disruption to the following roads:
- A595 at Kirksanton / Holmrook is impassable due to flooding and is closed.
- A596 at Castle Gardens, Whitehaven is impassable due to flooding.
- A591 at Whitecross Bay is impassable due to flooding with vehicles stuck in flood water.
- B5300 Maryport to Silloth is impassable due to flooding.
- Brindleway at Seaton is impassable due to a vehicle stuck in flood water and the road is closed.
- The main road from Great Clifton to Clifton roundabout is impassable due to flooding.
- The road at Braystone Holiday Village is impassable due to a vehicle stuck in flood water.
The following roads are affected, however are at this time deemed passable with care:
- A595 – Foxfield to The Green
- A595 – between Kirkby-in-Furness and Askam-in-Furness
- A7 at Sandysike / Westlinton
- A6071 at Mill Hill
- A6071 at Irthing Bridge, Brampton
- B6263 – Wetheral to Warwick Bridge
Motorists travelling this morning are encouraged to adapt their driving to the conditions. Please allow extra time for your journey, reduce your speed, keep a safe distance from other vehicles and do not attempt to drive through flood water.
