Allerdale NPT school talks

In the run up to Halloween and Bonfire night the Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Team have been visiting a number of schools in the area.

The Neighbourhood Policing Team regularly visit local schools to conduct talks with pupils to educate them on how they can keep themselves safe covering things such as road and online safety.

During the Halloween section of the talk the officers covered, crossing the road safely now that we are into the darker nights it important to take care when crossing the road and staying in well-lit areas.

Always go trick or treating with an adult and not talking to strangers.

In the firework section officers advised young people they should stand well back from fireworks, wear gloves and light sparklers.

Unfortunately, at this time of the year we see a rise in anti-social behaviour and these talks also covered anti-social behaviours aimed at making young people aware of the consequences of their actions.

Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Team Sergeant Leesa Edwards said “We are encouraging parents to speak to children about staying safe over Halloween and Bonfire night.

“As well as the effect that their behaviour can have on others, and that some people may find this time of the year difficult.

“We have an operation in place over this week targeting anti-social behaviour, we would encourage anyone victim to such behaviour to contact us.”

This is also supported by Operation Enhance, in which funding was secured by the Cumbria’s Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner to further target anti-social behaviour in hotspot areas.
