Volunteers who give their time as Special Constables have contributed 10,395 hours to policing Cumbria in 2025.
There are 41 Special Constables in Cumbria who form a vital part in supporting regular officers with the day-to-day policing of Cumbria.
Specials have the same powers as regular officers, wear the same uniform and carry the same equipment as regular officers.
In Carlisle, Special Constables contributed 4,464 hours volunteering to police in the community assisting on activities such as road safety operations, events and within the nighttime economy.
Last week, Special Constable Susan Holiday who has given nearly 40 years of her own time to Cumbria Police and the communities of this county has been recognised in the New Year Honours. (Special Constable who has given decades of service recognised in the New Year Honours - Cumbria Constabulary)
