Cumbria’s Community Serious and Organised Crime (CSOC) unit led on an operation yesterday ( 13 May ) around concerns regarding modern day slavery offences at a premises in an area off Duke Street in Barrow.
As a result of the activity, one woman in her forties, was arrested on suspicion of immigration offences.
A second woman aged 63, was arrested on suspicion of modern day slavery offences.
CSOC’s work is ongoing as part of this operation and both women have been released on police bail while further enquiries are carried out.
The activity on Tuesday was part of Operation Axbridge – a new operation in Westmorland and Furness led by the CSOC team targeting serious and organised criminals in the Eden, South Lakes and Barrow areas.
