Police are appealing for witnesses following a two-vehicle collision on the A66, at Twenty Row, near Workington.
The collision was reported at 6.38pm yesterday ( July 12 ).
It involved a silver Audi A3 and a black Ford Focus.
The driver of the Ford, a man in his thirties, sustained serious injuries and was transferred to hospital, where he was said to be in a stable condition.
The front seat passenger of the Ford was a woman in her thirties. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or has relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.
