Police are investigating a two-vehicle collision on the B5307, near Fingland, west of Carlisle.
It happened at about 4.45pm yesterday ( July 11 ).
The collision involved a motorcycle and a car.
Despite the best efforts of members of the public and medical staff, the motorcyclist – a man – was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the car was uninjured.
Police are asking for any witnesses who have not yet spoken to officers to contact them.
They should do so quoting incident 185 of July 11.
