The M6 has reopened to traffic in both directions following the fatal single-vehicle road traffic collision which occurred near Gretna earlier today (2 Oct).

Emergency Services were called at 6:42am today (2 October) to a report of a single vehicle road traffic collision on the M6 Northbound just prior to Junction 45, near Gretna.

The driver, a man in his 60s, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

A number of other vehicles were also affected by damage/debris from the collision.

The family of the deceased are aware.

The road remains closed while enquiries are carried out. Drivers are advised to avoid the area and are thanked for their patience.
