Two people have been taken to hospital with injuries following a serious collision on Senhouse Street, Maryport.
The collision, reported at 5:58pm today (18 April) involved a police vehicle and two pedestrians, children of secondary school age.
One victim has been transported to hospital with serious injuries and is described as in a critical but stable condition. The other suffered minor injuries and has now been discharged from hospital.
The police vehicle was not in pursuit or responding to an emergency incident at the time of the collision.
Senhouse Street remains closed while investigative enquiries are conducted.
The circumstances of the collision are being fully investigated, and the incident was immediately referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, which is standard practice.
