Officers from Barrow’s Neighbourhood Policing Team have seized a bike and made an arrest as part of an investigation into criminal damage to a vehicle on Andrews Way, Barrow.

The report followed a rise in reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB) in Barrow involving e-bikes at the start of the month.

As well as enforcement action against those involved in this type of behaviour, officers will be proactively engaging with parents regarding the behaviours or their children.

Sergeant Jack Hart, Barrow NPT, said: “We know the anti-social use of e-bikes and the crimes associated with this is an important issue to our communities in Barrow.

“This bike has now been seized, and I hope this serves as a warning to those riding such bikes and committing offences – we have a zero-tolerance approach and we will be proactively targeting riders.

“As part of this work, we’ll also be having honest conversations with parents of those involved and taking robust action where necessary.

“I would continue to ask anyone witnesses someone using our roads in a dangerous or anti-social way or causing criminal damage, to report this to us so that we can continue to take action.”

You can report this behaviour to police by speaking to a member of the Barrow Neighbourhood Policing team, visiting our website, or by calling 101.
