Cumbria Police is attempting to identify witnesses as part of an investigation into an incident in Raffles Avenue in Carlisle yesterday (3 Dec) which resulted in a man being arrested.
The incident occurred at some time between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.
A group - two men, a woman and a girl – were speaking to one another at this time when a man and a woman with a young child walked past.
One of the men from the group then yelled at the couple with the child to “shut up” as the child was crying.
The couple with the young child continued to walk away when it is alleged the man who yelled at them went into his home and came out holding a knife and yelling threats in the direction of the couple and the child.
Cumbria Police is attempting to identify the couple with the child as they may be able to assist officers with their investigation which has already resulted in a 59-year-old local man being arrested on suspicion of threatening a person with a bladed article. He remains in police custody this afternoon.
Cumbria Police is encouraging this couple to contact police.
Police would also like to hear from anyone else with information which might assist.
