A Workington man has been jailed for two and half years after a police investigation into a violent assault against a woman.

Owen Carr, aged 34, was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court on Tuesday (23 September) for assault.

The sentencing relates to an incident on 4 June where Carr attacked his former partner, including biting her eyelid.

Detective Constable Julie Robinson, Cumberland CID, said: “Firstly I would like to praise the victim in this case for her bravery in supporting our investigation.

“Owen Carr is a dangerous offender and violently attacked his former partner, causing significant injuries. We are pleased that he has been removed from society.

“I would encourage anyone who is subject to any form of domestic abuse to come forward and trust that we will do all we can to hold offenders accountable for their actions.”
