A policing operation around Carlisle fireworks show helped the event take place successfully on Saturday evening (1 Nov).

To help allow the thousands of people attending the event to do so safely, a policing operation was put in place which included the authorisation of a dispersal order.

In the hours leading up to the event, a number of people were dispersed, in-line with the order, while two youths were arrested for breaching the dispersal order when required to leave the area and not return.

Inspector Andy Leather from Carlisle Neighbourhood Policing team said: “The measures put in place ahead of the event, as well as the action taken against a small number attempting to engage in anti-social behaviour, meant the event itself could take place safely and enjoyably for all.”
